The Pelech Approach

Pelech Principles

Ulpanit Pelech Kiryat Ekron:

Instills a love of Torah, a love of Israel, and a love of humanity, as well as a halachic commitment to Torah and its commandments, to a religious (Orthodox) identity and to a vibrant Zionism.

Strives to strengthen the religious-spiritual world of its students through extensive Torah study, through identification with the ages-old worlds of halachah and Jewish philosophy, by maintaining an open dialogue between teachers and students on issues of religion and faith and by creating a meaningful connection between the religious and the secular.

Encourages intellectual curiosity and an appreciation of the humanities, the sciences and the arts, with an understanding of their influence on the development of Jewish and human thought.

Cultivates female self-awareness and confronts the ongoing changes in the role of the Jewish woman in society, using and adhering to halachic sources.

Inculcates in its students the value of contribution and kindness, and of active communal involvement through ongoing volunteer work, leadership in youth movements as well as National Service or army service.

Aims to have its students internalize the concept of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. Strives for openness and tolerance towards diverse views both within and outside the school, by maintaining, for example, an open dialogue with the various communities that constitute Israeli society.

Promotes a warm, challenging scholastic environment that encourages independent and creative critical thinking, an environment that provides the opportunity for each student to develop her own talents and achieve personal excellence.

Maintains an open relationship between students and teachers based on respect, honesty and mutual trust, and characterized by student involvement in the decision-making process.

Encourages each student to undertake personal challenges, and to aspire to leadership roles in society at large and in the religious community in particular.

Endeavors to serve as a laboratory which develops educational initiatives that benefit Israeli society.
